TV constitutes a major part of our culture. For many people TV media is constant presence in their lives.  Despite its great presence in our lives, few people have a deep understanding of its influence. Think how little we know about television. Let us consider television’s influence on us, and on our society.

The advantage of television is that we can see images from far away places. We can not only enjoy sceneries and their images of places which we can never travel to or touch but also store knowledge of many fields through TV images.

The disadvantage, on the other hand, is that TV often broadcasts only the programs which the public want to watch. In fact, some are shallow dramas and variety shows. What we need is not only enjoying but also choosing programs which will help us learn about the world. As the solution, governments should tax broadcast. And they should use this tax as subsidies to help making programs that will satisfy our real needs.

As the conclusion, TV has much educational potentials!

Living in a small town and living in a big city both have merits for inhabitants. Living in a small town has three merits. First of all, you can feel seasonality change. This must be an original lifestyle of human beings! Second, you can get much free time. Therefore what you do depends on you! Third, the prices of rent and land are low. You can purchase your own house!

On the other hand, living in a big city also has three merits. First of all, you can earn much money in a big city than in a small town. Second, it is convenient for you to live in a big city in many ways. For example, there are enough hospitals, stores and communications. Third, you can get much information around you.

Although both stands have merits and demerits, I like living in a small town of countryside. The reason is that there are many relationships between people in a small town!

The advantage of television is that what we can see images from far away places.

The disadvantage is that TV shows us only popular programs which we want to watch. In fact it is shallow dramas and variety shows. It is the solution to become wiser media consumers and need programs which will help us learn about the world. If so, Shallow dramas and variety shows will disappear soon.

I think that one long summer vacation is better than several short vacations throughout the year. In fact most schools all over the world take long summer vacation.

First of all, one long summer vacation enables students to act on their own initiative. In other words, they can learn to be autonomous, by deciding what they want to do, and carrying out their own goals or tasks in a long vacation.
In Japan they can enjoy traditional events in July and August. They can work on the most interesting projects for themselves. They can also travel home to see their relatives. In particular the Bon Festival in Japan is count for much. It is a traditional event of Buddhism. At the event, relatives enshrine their ancestors.

Contrary to long summer vacations, several short vacations throughout the year count for nothing. They cannot make long plan which enables students what they want to do. In the case of several short vacations, students do nothing but daily tasks.

Many experiences in one long summer vacations enable students to grow up. This is meaningful for students’ life.

I went camping with pretty children aged from seven to nine and numerous staffs of university students for two days in Awaji Island.

We and children did orienteering around the camp site. Children cooked curry rice for themselves at dinner of the first day. We did nothing but help cooking a little. We enjoyed campfire at night of the first day. We enjoyed some games and sang a song together at the campfire. And children made decorated nameplate made of bamboo at the second day in remembrance of this camp.

This camp got the most wonderful memory of this summer for us and children!!

When do you feel stress? Wherever you live, there are many things that can cause you stress in the modern world. As for me I get nervous most when I have to make a presentation.

Too much stress is not good to your health. Many serious medical conditions are caused by excessive stress. That’s why it is very important to reduce stress in your life. So, let me introduce you several ways that I know to reduce your stress!

First of all, to take a leisurely bath is highly recommended. A relaxing bath helps blood circulate well. You can enjoy your private time and if possible private space in the bath. It is important to allocate as much private time and space.

Second, a sound sleep is recommended. If possible, you should sleep from 10 p.m. to 12 p.m. And 7 to 8 hour sleep is a must. A good sound sleep gets rid of your tiredness.

There are many other ways to reduce your stress. But the most important thing is that you recognize stress. Although it is easier said than done, you would soon learn to cope with the stress in your hectic life. Take it easy!

Nazis leaders of Germany in the 1930s decided to remove the Jews to build the utopia for the Germans. Finally they resorted to Holocaust which was the murdering of as many as six million Jews by the Nazis.

Seeing this tragedy, a man saved thousands of Jews. He was Sugihara Chiune who was the Japanese consul to Lithuania in 1940. He did not stop issuing them until he left Lithuania. He had to resign from the diplomatic service after he returned to Japan because he continued to issue visas for Jewish refugees without permission from Foreign Ministry in Japan. After his retirement, he did not lead a happy life. But after the war, he received Israel’s highest honor in 1985.

He prepared to risk not only himself but also his family when he decided to save Jews. I respect his courageous behavior as Japanese. I think that those who were saved by him have never forgotten his action.
